DECIDING ON THE PIECE
Choosing and buying a painting can be exhilarating and fulfilling. On the other hand, it can sometimes be a bit confusing or intimidating. You can base your choice on size, color or even investment value, but ultimately, the most important reason for choosing an artwork should be that you feel an emotional resonance with the piece. I would love to help you in the process.

Most of my paintings on the website have prices on them. If a painting is not marked as sold, donated or on hold, it is available for purchase.
COMMISSIONING THE WORK
If you are considering commissioning a painting but are undecided about the details, I can help you determine the size, genre and color scheme. Each painting is a unique, one-of-a-kind creation and can't be exactly replicated, however, if you see a painting that is similar to what you want, it can help guide the process. A similar piece can be created in a different size. If a painting is sold and no longer available, but you would like something similar, or want to discuss the work as a starting point for an idea or genre you are interested in, just ask!
In deciding practical matters, it sometimes helps to cut out a piece of paper or tape newspaper up on the intended wall to see what size works best in the environment. You can also send me photos of the room and the intended location of the work and I can help you work through details. If you see one or several of my painting that you like, elements can be combined from various paintings to bring together the right colors, size and style to customize the artwork to your preferences. If you would like me to do a commission based on one of your photographs or of a specific location, that is possible, however, I would prefer to have the opportunity to travel to the location to personally connect with the scene.
Once the details have been worked out and the initial decisions for the commission have been made, I would ask for a 50% deposit, and begin the work. I will provide a sketch showing the composition ideas, value and color scheme; or a small pastel study for your review and approval. Color examples will be provided in person, or sent by mail, to avoid discrepancies which can occur due to differences in color profiles on individual computer monitors.
When the commissioned piece is complete, I present the work to you for your final review and approval. If any revisions are requested, I will allocate 6-8 additional hours, and present the final piece. If any further revisions are requested, they would then be subject to an additional charge of $50 an hour.
The cost of commissioning your work will depend on the complexity of the requested painting, but will generally be 25% above the prices of similarly sized pieces you may see on my website, which covers time and effort required to align my creative process with your desires and goals for customizing the work. Due to my travel and show scheduling, please expect up to a three month time frame for completion of your painting, from the time the deposit is received.
FRAMING
Website pricing includes a frame, and typically include Museum or AR glass, which are reflection free and provides UV protection. Some works are framed with a mat, and have glass larger than the artwork by around 3" on each side, or some are framed with glass which is the same size as the art work. If you would like the painting to be shipped, it is best for artwork framed in glass over 14x18" to be shipped without the frame or glass. I will adjust the price of the painting accordingly.
SHIPPING
Domestic shipping varies depending on the size of the artwork, but generally runs between $30-60 for small and medium sized works, up to $200 for a 24 x 36" artwork, including packaging and insurance. I will send you tracking information once the painting has shipped.
